The first letter of the call number (for example PS3513 .A6322 C194) tells you what floor the book will be on (see guide below).  In this example, the book will be on the 4th floor because all call numbers beginning with P are on 4. When on the 4th floor, you will see the beginning of the P section goes P1-P9999, then PA1-PA9999, then PB, PC, PD and so forth.  Since this book is PS, it will be toward the end of the P section.

Another tip in finding books on the shelf is to make sure, as in this example, you are in three thousand call numbers, not three hundreds.  This is a common mistake.  If you have any problems finding your book on the shelf, please come down to the Borrowing and Information Desk on the main floor and we can help.
